The dried fruits(Mahaleb) are used as a spice. Especially it gives a unique fragrance to the cakes. It is especially used in cakes, donuts and dry cakes. It is used in liquor industry. The mahaleb tree, branches and bark are fragrant due to the coumarin it contains. Therefore, sticks used to smoke tobacco were made from the branches of the mahaleb tree in the past. Mahaleb is also used in the perfumery industry and its oil is used in the paint industry.
